Actually, it is. You just have to ensure you have the all important HTTPS connection before entering any personal information.
Don't confuse this with a suggestion that you do it. That's up to you and what you do is of no concern to me. :C
If you say it, it must be true. Not. A hacker can access your device on an open connection, install a keystroke capture program and record everything you type into your HTTPS site. Chances are slim this is going to happen, but it is still not foolproof any way you slice it.
