Hopefully this has not been batted around before.We are looking at full-timing in a few years. I would like to do some workamping for a couple of years. Thinking of my wife I was wondering what she would do with her time. If we are working then some time is taken up and we would explore the area were at with some other time.When your on the road I'm not sure there will be the volunteer activities available unless you specifically attend events such as a Habitat build site. What activities does everyone find to do or what do you do with your free time without breaking the bank?

What would you do at a S&B home? Walk the dog, hike, kayak, bike, watch TV, read, sightsee, do little repairs on the RV, drink beer. The same stuff you normally do but in a different part of the country.

Workcamping is a great way to full time. Work 5 days 2 days of seeing the sites. In a month or so it is time to move on to a new location and new things to explore.

My wife and I are volunteer campground hosts for seven months per year. The other 5 months we just "rest."While traveling we like history and visiting museums. How things change. In school history was my most hated subject!

we are currently full timing in Rockport, TX and yes basically the same things that you would do in your home town, only a different area. We read, explore, fish, go to the beach, happy hours, BQ/Smoker, shop, walk the dog, the bad stuff (laundry, bills, grocery shopping), yard sales, thrift shops, eat out, festivals, just your basic have fun!!

What do you do with your time while full-timing

My wife is a quilter and I am an amateur radio operator. Plus the many other interesting things in the area of the country we are in at the time.

We visit our kids and grandkids who live in CA and WA. We visit friends who live in NV. We sightsee. This year we will go to AZ to visit folks we haven't seen in years. We attend rallies, Quartzsite, and enjoy the scenery. I golf and she knits and shops. We stay in the NW until hunting season is over. We go see our National Parks. And sometimes, we just sit.

X2 - only we do it 365 day a year. Those occasional mornings where we have to get up to be somewhere by a specific time (physician appointments, service on the coach) are really hard for us to do. Really hard thing is so many restaurants don't seem to understand that breakfast isn't over by 10:00 am - - for some of us that is barely eyes open time!

I don't know what we do but there never seems to be enough hours in the day to do it. We get up late, always have a full breakfast, never in a rush to go do something for the day, do alot of yapping with others who also seem to have alot of time on their hands, often go to bed late, repeat cycle.

Guess we behave like teenagers.

We host at state parks....20 hours a week....have meet a lot of great people and other doing this. Great experience!

We've done a lot of sitting in physician's waiting rooms this winter - - something about growing old and the bodies starting to fall apart.:R

In most instances, no matter where you park, there will be a nursing home nearby. I would suggest contacting that nursing home for volunteer opportunities. As a nursing home DON, I know how much we appreciate and treasure our volunteers. You could spend your time making a difference in the lives of our seniors. :)
