We volunteer 9 mos of the year mostly for USF&W refuges though we have volunteered at state parks, USACE parks and USFS. We usually work 20-24 hrs each per week same schedules. Although some work is mundane and more so as camp hosts our work with FWS has been interesting and educational. We have led canoe and kayak trips, been interpretive hosts at tidepools on the Oregon coast. DW setup and ran tour for handicapped on a 8 passenger golf cart.
Other volunteers we have met have banded birds, tagged horseshoe crabs, assisted with other biological surveys. There really are so many opportunities to keep occupied while fulltiming and so much to see and do in the various regions of the country we'll have to keep doing it for a long long time.
