Southern Arizona is very popular, especially Yuma.
People I have talked to say they either love or hate Yuma.
The lovers always say it's a cheap place to stay.
The haters always say it's dusty and dirty and the "blue haired " locals are very rude in the grocery store.
Never stayed my self just driven thru. Did not look like much from the interstate.
We stay mostly stay in the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs area and Sedona/Verde Valley AZ in the winters. Low humidity and warm weather. LOTS to do!
We spent a week in Yuma - that was about 5 days to long. Unless you have lots of friends there just isn't a lot to do, limited shopping, and next to nothing in the way of cultural events. That is why we like Mesa, AZ.

Based on friends opinions that have a similar lifestyle we won't be staying in Yuma.
