Wondering??

Hi just wondering how many of you fulltimers have a home or rv lot that you call homebase. My husband and I are trying to figure out what we want in retirement. I would be just fine with just the RV but my DH feels he needs just a small piece of property so if after 5 months of traveling he feels like coming back to what he calls his space and take a break even if just for a month. Just would like to hear from you fulltimers on the subject. Thanks Tara

  • we don't fulltime but have 2 homes in Montana, main home is rented ,may want to live in it when we get older. the other is cabin on lake not suitable for winter we leave in oct and return in may. for us its the best solution ken
  • No house or rv lot. We keep a large chunk of $$ in a CD in case we change our minds.
  • We sold everything and then hit the road.....with an exit plan just in case.

After 7 yrs. of FT traveling all over the USA.....never staying in one place for long periods (traveled every week.2 weeks) we HAD to exercise our exit plan.

Bought another home and just do camping trips vs traveling.

Had looked at RV lots and just parking 5vr but decided a 'house' was the way to go for us.
Would rather still be FT traveling but life throws curves so you adjust an whack away.
  • Yep that is what my husband is saying. He loves the idea for traveling for 3-4 months T a time or longer but he wants his home space. Be it a rv lot or a small cabin.
  • Personally, I would not dream of having to live in a camper all the time. I would have to have a "homebase" for R&R every now and then. Some do the full time thing and more power to them, but I could not do it. I could travel just so much and then the "wanderlust" would pale and I would want to go home for a while.
  • If there's hesitation then he's not ready. A crutch is always a crutch. You can't walk until you get rid of the crutch.
  • Trust me I so agree with you. My DH just has some hesitation. So I thought if I posted Question on here he could read what everyone has to say. Thanks so much for your thought :)
  • your home is wherever you are parked you dont have to worry about yard upkeep and if you dont like your neighbor move
