Its been 10 days now. Got a call from 2 different National General supervisors. Both said the same thing- they have a 10% cancellation fee. Its because I am from Florida as to why they can do it. It doesn't mean they have to! I suppose they cant in some states. Also I found out that it is not stated in my policy that they can do it. "Its clearly written in their policy manuals" though. My best chance would have been to cancel with GMAC before the policy started. As a full time RV'r it takes 2-3 weeks for me to get mail sometimes. I was behind the power curve when I found out about them raising my policy 540 dollars because I am from Florida. So I just want this to be educational for the rest of the world. The secret has been identified. It is unethical in my opinion to have that big of a cancellation fee. I imagine the good companies of the world don't need anything like that.I am still not going to pay the bill. For all of you that have GMAC/National General and they are treating you unfair just remember if you decide to drop them they will charge you a cancellation fee if its possible. As I said before I would only recommend National General to my enemies!
