OK, admittedly, midnightsadie's post struck a chord.
In my time with them, I had nothing but good service from Coach-Net.
So I continued my exhaustive research... in the name of science! My time is worth much more than if I had just signed up for both, but I have this need to make informed decisions. Measure twice, cut once... and so forth.
Though there were certainly some, overall the negative postings about Coach-Net were relatively few.
I was able to find a sample, "Premier Coach Membership Guide" by adding "pdf" to the google search. I think they should make that easy to find, so one knows what he's getting before cutting the check. I wasn't in love with the wording of "...nearest qualified repair facility as determined by us." What if they're qualified, but don't want to do the job? Good Sam's membership guide seems to be more clear about this.
In the end I went ahead and signed back up for Coach-Net. It has been 2 years since my last membership expired, so I didn't get the $169 renew rate. BUT... since the MH is a Winnebago, the nice young lady signed me up for the Winnebago Premier Plan, which is the same as the non-branded premier MH plan, only its 179 bucks instead of $249. She said renewal rates are also $179, so if true, I guess they'll make that back up in 7 years if I'm still driving the Winnebago.
There was one website I searched through that sealed the deal for me. Not sure how I feel about posting it here, but let's just say... it's kind of an obvious place anyone should look to for information, complaints and reviews on just about any business.
Good Sam had plenty of reviews.
Coach-Net had virtually none. So either Good Sam is just IMMENSELY more popular. Or Coach-Net is benefiting from the old adage, "If a customer has a good experience, they'll tell 1 person. If they have a bad one, they'll tell 10."
Hopefully I'll never have to call them for more than technical assistance or other minor services to see if they're "as good as they once was." But if I do, then I guess I'll find out.
Thanks for all the help!
