Abandoned at the Samboree Perry, Georgia

Our family went to the Samboree at Perry, Georgia Sept. 11-14, 2014. We had a great time as this is our first Samboree experience. All was good till time to go. The first problem was when my oil light on the F350 ford came on and we called roadside service. They would send service at $57.00 per hour plus the cost of oil. I did not have a problem with the oil cost but did the hour charge. So the State Samboree took me to get oil. He was great. The other was when my 5th wheel hitch would not catch. Again we called RSA and they said to take the truck to get the hitch repaired(this was on Sunday)and before we had the oil to move the truck. They would not even tow the truck or rv to repair shop. Again a fellow camper help us get the hitched fixed. Another stopped at a Camping World on Sunday and because a tech was not logged in to work would not even talk to him. He called me to explain. Thanks to fellow campers we were help. What good is RSA. An email to Marcus said it should have been covered but no assurance that if similar problems happen would we be stranded. We need to feel help will arrive if an emergency occurs.

  • I had just had the oil changed and apparently they did not put the proper amount of oil in. It was low enough for the light to come on but did no damage to the engine. I have taken up issue with the oil change store who were supposed to change the oil and put in the proper level.
The hitch had a spring break which did not allow the hitch to lock. A good sam fellow camper figured it out and I was on my way. The problem is with the Roadside Assistance poor response as stated in my original post
  • Why did your oil light come on? Was it becaus you let the engine get too low on oil?

What exactly was wrong with your hitch? Operator error or a significant mechanical defect that might require a professional repair?

    Just curious.
