A/C Sparks = Fire Hazard

I have had the GSESP Gold Plan on my 2004 Safari Zanzibar for several years.
Last year I had a bad “chatter” in the front Dometic Penguin heat pump fan. The fan blades were contacting the metal housing and I was afraid if not fixed, it may cause a fire. The shop where I took it routinely handles GSESP work said the claim was refused because the a/c was not “broken” and repairable.
I paid a significant amount to get this repaired; however, this spring the same “chatter” has returned. The shop says the claim may still be refused, but if the a/c is replaced, the entire electronic system will have to be replaced because the new units utilize different technology.
I have 2 questions: (1) now that I have paid for repairs that did not work, will GSESP replace this defective a/c? And if so, (2) will GSESP pay for the electronic system conversion required for the a/c replacement?
Thanks for your response.

  • Encore,

According to our records we do not show that a claim has been filled last year or this year regarding this issue you stated above. We will have an someone contact you to get this claim started and see how we can assist with this.
  • Why are the fan blades contacting the housing? Maybe the repair shop didn't fix it correctly, I don't know. Something has to have moved that it is now contacting the housing. Maybe the fan bearings are bad in which case I would think that it would be a prpairable fix. Good luck.
