anyone have any experience with the Good Sam Trip planner?

I have planned several long distance trips. I don't know a short cut, but judge a visual distance in the areas close to home and then start looking for camping places in about that number of 'inches/miles' After I pick a spot, I check to see the miles/travel time and adjust from there. Good luck - this has worked for me and I am planning another cross country trip (CA to IN) later this summer.
