I received an online quote a couple of days ago for coverage on a new (to us) 2012 TT. The quote came in quite a bit higher than what my auto carrier (Progressive) quoted. A little later that day (hour or so maybe), I received a telephone call from Good Sam insurance asking about my quote. I told him that I was gong with another company because of the rate difference. He asked who, and when I told him Progressive he advised that they are Good Sam's carrier and that if I book with Good Sam he could get me a few discounts to get a lower rate than from them. When I told him the rate I received directly from Progressive he seemed surprised and commented that they couldn't do that.
I'm not a Good Sam member yet, and wondering now - Does membership make a difference on insurance rates? I ended up purchasing the policy as quoted directly from Progressive for $301/yr vs Good Sam's $394/yr.
