Automatic renewal of roadside insurance.

HI folks. Quick question to our fellow RVers out there. We have been members of Good Sam road side service for a long time. We usually renew every second year when we get the notice. This year we were gone when the notice came but we noticed that they had automatically billed our credit card. We are not fans of automatic renewals of anything and can't remember authorising this kid of thing. We have since cancelled the service for various reasons and this was one but are wondering how common this is out there. We have always had to renew manually. Is this something that is done commonly now? The gentleman we talked to was helpful in cancelling our membership and the credit showed up on the credit card but it still irks me a bit. We cancelled primarily because of all the reports from a variety of sources and friends who have had bad experiences with them. I think at this point we feel more comfortable with coach net. We couldn't help but notice that new signees also save a ton of money over former members but I kind of get that this is a marketing strategy.

Anyone else been auto renewed and discovered by accident?

  • Ella responded to us by PM and apologized for the inconvenience. I had indicated that we were happy with the refund and that no further action was required on her part. As I said earlier in the thread I feel at this time from what I have read and heard our needs can be probably better filled by Coachnet at this time. All is well.

  • You agree to reupping automatically if you renew through the mail or online. There is a sentence authorizing the charge.

  • I'm sure that if something had happened, and you submitted a claim, they would have realized their error and refunded the unused portion of the fee. Heck, if your lucky they wont charge you a restocking fee on their charge.
