I do feel your pain and it is not right but the insurance company may have caused their own problem. Years ago I had a truck which was hit by another car; their insurance agreed to repair. When additional problems were found during repairs they still insisted on paying to repair even though it took it beyond its value. The rationale they used was they would end up paying less to finish the job than to have lost the paid repairs and the payout to me for a totaled out truck.
