Bought a new 5th wheel and this happened

So, I HAD a Roadside Assistance membership that expired in 2022. I bought a new rig from Camping World in late January. Yesterday, I get new Roadside Assistance cards in the mail with a one year expiration. They are for a different account. This always happens and I just call, ask Good Sam to combine the new account to the old and extend it for a year.

So, I call Good Sam and I'm told the dealer CANCELLED my original membership and Good Sam sent the refund to the dealer! I contacted the dealer and they are working on it, but I'm so mad at Good Sam right now. How can they possibly allow a third party to cancel an account I have. The contract is between Good Sam and me. Sure, the dealer gave me the account when I purchased a previous unit, but they had zero business cancelling my account. Imagine if I hadn't looked closely at the new cards. I very easily could've been without coverage.

So, beware that when you buy a new RV Good Sam could arbitrarily cancel your existing account.

As an aside, the finance manager that did this was fired a few days ago. I'm confident my dealer will make it right, but still Good Sam had zero right to allow them to cancel anything with my name on it without my authorization.

  • Humans make mistakes and some even sin...so the best policy is not rush to judgment until all facts have been considered. Given the opportunity Good Sam will do the right thing. Good Sam is more than an individual on the end of a phone line.
  • Yep. Crazy. I do have a friend at the dealership that is working on it. Still, I'm surprised the Good Sam let a third party cancel it.

    On the plus side, I received a phone call from Good Sam based on the above post. Didn't realize my phone number was in my profile. I wasn't home, so we are playing phone tag.

    I'll let you know how this plays out.

    Sounds like an individual may have pocketed the refund instead of the dealer.
