- Good_Sam_Care_TExplorer IIGood afternoon,
We do not currently offer any tire discount program but we appreciate the recommendation and will pass this feedback along. - N6WTExplorerDoes Good Sam have a tire discount purchase program like one of the other RV associations?
- CapriRacerExplorer IISo here's the science behind the tire aging limit:
Rubber compounds age according to temperature. It's called the Arrhenius equation. A quick and dirty version is: Chemical reactions double with every 10°C.
What that means is that tires in - say - Phoenix age much more rapidly than tires in - say - Minneapolis. That's one of the reasons why there is disagreement between users.
Then we have the issue of trailer tires. Many of these weren't designed well and failed early. This had little to do with aging and a lot to do with material fatigue. This is also influencing how people perceive tire life. - pianotunaNomad IIII'll be buying 7 tires in the spring of 2022. Plenty of tread--but aged out.
My car tires are a different matter. I'm driving less than 3000 miles a year. So the tires will have only 12000 miles on them in 2024. It is in urban low speed use only. - joelcNomadYes. 6 yr. point. But we are now set at a long term site now, so wont be doing it unless we travel again.

Did my last ones at 5 yrs. lots of tread but sidewalls were badly cracked. As others have said...cheap insurance.

- southernskyExplorerWe usually put between 10-15,000 miles on our rig per year, so in 5-7 years it's time for new ones.

Those numbers are nonsense unless you’ve mistreated the tires. Goodyear and Michelin have a 10 year life but suggest annual inspections after year 7. Proper inflation, keep them washed, but more importantly keep them moving. Letting tires just stay put is probably the worst thing you can do.
Running tires after 7 yrs. is like playing at the Casino **** table. After rolling the dice 7 times your odds are pretty good that you are going to loose your $$$ at the table. Blowouts on tires can do some real damage and be costly. Going on a long RV trip i.e coast to coast on 7 yr. old tires would not be my choice!!!! - bob213ExplorerTV 6-7 years..TT 4 years. Blowout on TV did $3500 damage. I'd rather change them out than be on the side of the road.
