But that is NOT because of how GS runs their business. Every forum that is run by a company as an opportunity to bring in new customers by providing a place for people to interact has these same issues. People have opinions and people will share their opinions. That's what a forum is and there's no way to change that other than to shut it down.
Forgive me if I see a blatant disconnect.
Since you acknowledge that the forum provides a place for people to interact... treating members as had been mentioned is not how opinions should be handled.
Of course opinions are exactly what they are. . . they simply carry vitriol that may sound unpalatable...but it is the nature of the beast.
Would you prefer to hear only what you want to hear? Of course not.
Shutting it down is a cop out akin to sweeping it under the rug.
As for members of the "team" having "nothing to do with complaints" and they have no part in finding solution is bonk.
If a someone accepts the responsibility to become a member of your so called "team" that member becomes complicit should there be any unresolved issue that affects the membership.
These team members are there to maintain decorum, as such the site continues to exist. And when (customer)members are happy it is a good thing. This end result could reflect the good work that your team are set out to do.
Customer members who are being bombarded with pop ups, promotional product endorsements, have no choice but to live on something that they might despise. . . but you signed to become a member so you just have to bite bullet.
All the best
I think you completely misconstrued my post.
When I refer to "team members" I am referring to the GS customer care team NOT to members of the forum.
The OP implies that the GS customer care team is being condescending to posters with complaints. However, it is NOT the team that is condescending. It is other posters on the forum.
As I said, GS can't control what posters say except to delete or close the thread and/or posts.
As for moderators, they are volunteers. I suggest that if someone feels that a moderator is overstepping their role, they should report it to the GS customer care team. If the company deems that moderator to be inappropriate, they will remove them from their position.
Of course, one could always volunteer to become a moderator themselves.
As for shutting down the forum, I was not suggesting that. I was pointing out that there is no other way to guarantee that posters will be polite and respectful to one another.
