Comenity--Comedy Bank

A lot of the same problems other people are having. We sent in August's payment in on the 17th. Started to wonder what was going on by the end of the month. Finally got a statement from the Comedy Bank, showed no payment for August, added a late fee, all with no explanation. Called Barclay bank, was told all records and monies were turned over to the Comenity Bank. Called Comenity bank, had to ask for a supervisor to try to get info, he was very rude. Even though I'm on the account as a secondary income, they HAD to talk to the primary, my wife. Called a day or so later trying to find out if August's payment came in, wouldn't tell me anything! My wife called after this, and we supposedly got everything worked out. Checking two days later, nothing has been changed! We will have to make another phone call tonight. My point, The Comedy Bank was a very poor choice to replace Barclay. As soon as I can, I'm going to pay them off and cancel this card. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing over there.

  • Several years ago I had some problems with a bank. I was furious. I deposited 3 checks. Only one got deposited. My bank blamed the originating check bank. Called them and they wouldn't talk to me. I was at a total loss. Then an old friend told me that I was wasting my time trying to deal with rude banking people. The best solution is the banking board. I wrote a letter to the banking board accusing my bank and the originating bank of banking fraud and basically theft of my money and asked for bank audits. I sent the bank board copies of everything. About a month later I received a nasty nasty letter from my bank about how irresponsible I was for contacting the banking board. However, the letter also indicated that the error was found and all money was reinstated to my account. Gosh, that really worked.

Bottom line: Now whenever I talk to any rude or know it all person at any bank about accounts, loans etc. I just remind them we can discuss it on the phone and get it corrected or I can contact the bank board and ask for a complete audit. Their choice. Always seems to calm them down and they seem to get cooperative. JHMO.
