Diagnostic Charges

I recently had some work done on my electric awning. I have had this looked at 3 times in the past. Each time the "fix" was to replace the black box but within days it would stop working. The problem is - I was on the road for some time and was never able to take it back.

This past week I had a guy come out and fix my awning as Yuma AZ has 108 degree heat and the awning is a nice fixture! Repair guy told me that the Good Sam Extended service does not pay for diagnostic time. If this is true - why is that?

  • Thanks for quick turn around. It must be covered as you all have replaced the black box 3 times but I had to pay for the diagnostics this time.
  • KO,

Good Sam Extended Service Plan will pay for diagnosis time once a determination has been made that the problem is a covered repair. What the repair guy was probably referring to is that we can't authorize or pay for the diagnosis time until the diagnosis is completed and we know that the repair is covered. So we ask the RV owner to authorize the diagnosis or tear-down, and then pay for the time along with the repairs if it is covered repair. If it turns out to be a maintenace item or a part that is not covered, the RV owner is responsible for paying the diagnosis time.
