ESP not living up to advertising
Mr Scott Blanc---
I purchased the plan but found the coverage is not what the advertising claims. Ie. My motor home broke down 3000 miles from home on a weekend. Somehow ESP did not pay the repair facility directly and I was left to use several credit card advances and all cash in my wallet to get going again. This is exactly what you say won’t happen with ESP!! Later I submitted the claim to ESP and found that they reimbursed based on labour hours for the repair and boy did ESP ever do a number on me.
They did pay for repair but only a small portion saying the labour rate of 5 hours (not the 11 hours on the invoice} was the basis for not only the repair but the hotel and car rental which were reduced drastically.
As I did not keep food receipts they denied any food expenses.. I maintain that being human beings we had to eat and an allowance for food should be accepted by ESP… The ESP staff are very authoritarian about how they administer the program…We were trapped on a weekend but found that ESP won’t cover the time waiting till Monday. We were misled.
When I got to my destination, I had to spend $180.08 at a caterpillar dealership to prove that the original invoice amount for labour hours was valid and ESP finally paid an additional sum but not for food even though its obvious we had to eat. Most plans provide a daily allowance of say $30 or so. But not ESP!!!!
Now your advertising states that you take away the worry about breakdowns.. Well this sure didn’t happen in my case.
I don’t know if you will consider my case to be worth your attention but I as a Good Sam member expected better treatment based on advertising which is not accurate.
