Overall, you feel it was worth it? Many people around have told me not to worry about it until my warranty was up. But hearing that I will always have to take it in kinda worried me.
Yes, it is worth it to me. I may not always be in an area the manufacturer has a warranty repair location but I can usually find a repair facility that will do the work; whether I have to pay upfront or not.
