Happens all the time. You just have to pay a few bucks for the new thermostat. Not a big deal

    $180 seems a bit steep for a thermostat.

      You can only replace it with a $180 thermostat?  Seems somewhat unlikely or is that what the repair shop is charging and do you know its required?

      Depends on where you buy it. From CW, no doubt it will be pricey.
