RV owners who do not have the expertise to handle most repairs themselves are being held hostage by incompetent dealerships and repair facilities. If there is anything to be taken away from this discussion it is practice due diligence. Get everything in writing. Make sure the work orders are complete as to specific repairs and costs. Make sure the repair facility provides notations of warranty approvals on the work order. Make a notation on the work order that any unauthorized work without the approval of the warranty carrier and you will be the repair facility's responsibility. Sometimes people can be too trusting. I for one have the experience and knowledge to be able to effect most repairs short of major structural. Even though I carry an extended warranty on my fifth wheel I would hesitate to submit repairs to just about any rv facility. My experience has been most repairmen are generalists and do not get paid very well. RVs generally have specialized construction and if you don't know what you are doing you can cause more damage. The only reason I have an extended warranty is for emergency repair when away from home base.
