First service call *****

As it has been said many times on here no one posts good about anything only, or mostly, bad experience.

So last sunday were getting ready to pull out of a gas station about 10 miles from home. Hear a loud band and no forward motion any more. Shifter still seems to move through the gears, 5 speed stick.

After pushing car out of driveway started contemplating what next. Remembered we had GS roadservice that includes car!! Called up the woman put me on hold 1 to try and get a local service, and came back in a few minutes saying she was still trying, and would I like to hold on or have her call me back when she gets a service committed? I tell her call me back, she calls back in abot 10 minutes with name and time that towtruck would be there at the latest, about 1.5 hours, busy day for tow trucks I guess.

About 10 minutes go by and I get call from driver verifying where I was and updating time to be there to around 20 minutes! Yeah!!!

Well he got there by the new time and the car was actually sitting in my garage before the original estimate!

GS also auto called me back to verify the driver had made it and the car was either towed or in process of being towed. All in all a ***** performance by all. :B

  • We hemmed and hawed on getting it as our progressive insurance policy has the feature available, used to be part of package. We had AAA for car for 23 years but even with the RV MC uplift it wouldn't have covered what GS covers and was more money.

    Watch the flyers for specials, extra months all the way up to an extra year.
  • The one time we used them their providers were apparently busy. NJ State Police pulled up behind us as I was on the phone with GSRA. The police wanted to get us going as though we were off the road it wasn't the best situation. So the police dispatched a service provider who paid out of pocket. Claimed it back to GSRA per the operator's instructions and got full reimbursement as promised. Can't complain about that – other than GSRA needing more contracted providers.

  • so good to hear a positive reply on GS RSA. we have been thinking on whether to get it or not as our insr also has RSA, and we see lots of negs on it.

    now we know that it does work and not all negs. tks for post.

  • I've had to use GS three times, twice I was back on the road within an hour, the other time was about 50 miles from the nearest town, and it took about 3 hours for the guy to get to me, and change my tire. I was in a rest area, and made breakfast while I waited. Phone people were great. Next time things may be different, but so far so good.
  • Good to hear a positive experience, in light of all the complaints posted here. We also had a good experience with GSRA last year.
