First use -Thanks for the good service, Good Sam

Woke up Sunday morning in rural part of South Carolina to apparently a dead chassis battery even though we'd been plugged into shore power overnight.

Called Good Sam for the first time ever, they estimated a service would be there in 75 minutes. Guy arrived in less than an hour, gave us a charge, and we were on our way by 9 a.m. Back home. Replacing the battery today.

Thanks Good Sam! You were there when we needed you.

  • So nice to hear about a good experience with GSRA after all the unpleasant ones lately.

    Thanks for posting.
  • May have misspoken, longer explanation is we were having trouble with both the house and chassis batteries prior to plugging in.The house battery is beneath the passenger seat and requires removing the seat to get to it, etc. Anyway, the point was that Good Sam came through for me.

Chassis (engine) battery is isolated from the "RV" batteries. Being plugged into Shore power will NOT charge the chassis battery - at least that is the way I understand it.

You could have jumped the Chassis battery from one of the RV batteries to get the engine started (at which point the chassis battery is being charged). Or you could have removed the chassis battery and connected it to the RV batteries and let the Shore power charge the Chassis battery.
