Good Sam Club or AAA?

I am a new RVer and I've had AAA coverage for years. I pay $158.00 a year and get all the peace of mind services like 200 miles of towing, emergency gas, locked keys in car, flat tire, numerous discounts, etc. How does Good Sam Club compare with AAA? Does my AAA service cover my RV, along with all other standard vehicles? Is Good Sam Club cheaper? Does it offer all the same peace of mind services as AAA? Should I have both or choose one over the other? If I should choose one coverage then what makes Good Sam Club better than AAA? Like I said, I'm new to the RV world. I want the best service, the best value and don't want to pay for anything that I don't really need. Thanks! Mike

  • Howdy!

We have had them and now use Coach Net and they provide great service.

  • AAA RV coverage is $37.00 a year extra, above and beyond your regular AAA service that you have.

It's well worth it! Stick with AAA!

Some different AAA Chapters sell AAA RV Plus or AAA RV Premiere, but in my area, they only sell one:

  • AAA has RV plus and premiere, I have both Good Sam and AAA RV Premiere. So far both have treated me very well. As for cost, to get AAA's services with RV Premiere, $140.00 per year, you have to go with Good Sam's RV Platinum+, $170.00. I believe in backup, so if one fails me, I have another one to back me up.

Just to give you an example, I called GS on a Sunday to change a flat tire on my MH, they said they supposedly could not find anyone and I would have to wait until Monday. I called AAA and 1 hour later we were on the road for our week long outing. I think GS did no want to pay weekend rates and were going to stiff us for their pocket book, but that is just my opinion.

I will not be renewing with GS when my time is up, I will be giving Coach Net a try, I have read lots of good things about them.
  • You better check with AAA to see if they have tow coverage for a large RV. Some don't, they just handle cars.
  • I dropped AAA in favor of Good Sam and have had to use their service twice - both times for my car! I needed a tow one time and a tire change. I got great service both times.
