Good Sam Insurance Offer not as presented?

Well...we left GS insurance about 3 years ago after getting a huge rate increase for no reason at all. So, policy about to renew in July...got letter in mail from Good Sam offering great discounts, 6 companies to chose from...etc. Ok, called to give them a shot at offering a quote. Can't hurt to see what's out there, and maybe go back to GS. First, its an independent broker, NOT Good Sam. Then, after telling her we are full timers, 365 days a year, she says she was looking at Safeco. Safeco is a company that doesn't offer full timer coverage. Apparently she didn't know this? When I asked about full replacement coverage on older unit as per the letter I received, she said no, that our 6 year old RV was too old to qualify. Then she wants to know what I'm paying now she says she needed that to get a quote, after telling her I wasn't going to divulge that information at this time for quote, she lost interest and said she was trying not to waste her time or mine.

Now I know why I left GS for my insurance needs, why I won't go back to GS for my insurance needs and why I will warn others not to fall for this letter. Shame on GS for this little farce.

Finally, no matter how many times I tell GS to STOP mailing me this stuff, I keep getting it. Now it goes into the trash unopened.
  • I think the brokers have a way to get you a good, low rate for the first year... and after that it goes up to the normal rate, raking you over the coals and sending the broker a make-up profit.
  • I think that's a good practice.... when they (any insurance company) asks what you are currently paying, don't tell them. Let them give you their figures first! If insurance A can save you X # of $$$ and you switch, Then insurance B can save you X # of $$$, eventually, you should be able to switch insurances enough, you should be insured for free! (But it don't work that way now, does it?)
