"Why should I as a paying member have to be bothered by them. I could not have been more clear with them when I joined."
I know most people are more sensitive to unsolicited mail and telephone calls than I am. It just doesn't bother me. Throwing mail in the trash or saying "no" on a telephone call are pretty easy.
I would call them and make sure you are on their do-not-call list. However, the various insurances they have are third party companies that may have gotten your name and number from somewhere else. GS insurances are available to nonmembers so the call could have no relationship to your being a member.
Sorry, I was not aware anyone was paying for caller ID anymore since it's included in my AT&T phone as well as on our cell phones. If you're sensitive to telephone calls, its a very worthwhile service. You might also consider phone service through your cable provider (of course that assumes you are using cable internet). Again, pretty inexpensive and includes a lot of features. I'm sure you protect yourself online with antivirus and antimalware programs. Likewise, we need to protect ourselves from the telephone.
I accepted a call from GS the other day and listened to the request to buy the extended warranty. Both I and the solicitor were polite to each other and I found out my motorhome has too many miles for the warranty. Now I know. Didn't even have to say "no".
Neither you nor I nor the do-not-call list are going to stop this kind of advertising. If it were not effective, the advertiser would quit. The best thing to do is adapt to our modern, no-privacy world.
