Ask to see a copy of a policy. Which they will answer you have to pay for one before you see it. :R:R

Almost all of these on line insurances have very low rates but in the policy you will read that it is only guaranteed for 12 months. And then they raise the rates.

I have met over 10 different people that this has happened to with GS, Progressive, and even AARP. They all say they will beat your current insurance but what they don't tell you is it is only for 12 months. Just saying, try and read the small print 'first' before you sign up and save yourself a whole bunch of headaches trying to go back to your original insurance company.

I have State Farm and every time we talk policies around the campfire, I always have the lowest rate.

I'm not a fan of Politics of progressive insurance, but wouldn't necessarily let it keep me from buying the insurance if the business practices were good. Based on what I've heard from friends that used Progressive though, and documented customer service like the following keep me from even thinking about it.

I had Progressive on my MH's for 6 yrs. I shop premiums every year. They were the cheapest until this year (2013). Seems Georgia had a rate increase and GEICO beat them by about $400. ($800 vs $1200). I moved my coverage to GEICO. I was a P&C Agent for 21 yrs. and I will continue to shop premiums each year. One thing for sure, no one can tell you which Co. is best for you except "YOU". Rates vary by counties and states. What Insurance cost me means nothing to you because of the location, credit, accidents, age of drivers, and age of vehicles. Do your own homework and disreguard what anyone else says.

rockhillmanor, I have State Farm also. I have had them for many years. We have been fulltimers for the past ten years with low rate and no claims. What I am concerned about is State Farm limited coverage because we don't own a home (brick and sticks). We only have the car and Motor home. Should something happen to the Motor home,our coverages is only for fair market value with no coverage for personal items. Without some kinda of home owners policy, we could have a problem if someone is hurt while in our Motorhome. During my search for better insurance, I was told I needed to get a company that works with fulltime Rver's? I am also interested in a policy that gives me diminishing deductibles.

Good Sam's doubled my rate in one year for no reason over $800 a year higher than GEICO and two other insurance companies, their nuts !!

The Rate bait and switch may be why its now National General Insurance !

I have Amica for both the MH and toad. In July 2012 I needed a new rubber roof after it sustained tree damage. My mobile RV tech came to the RV park and gave me a written estimate, then I called Amica to file a claim. Amica's policy is that for a claim greater than $1,500 USD an insurance adjuster must inspect the damage. The adjuster came to the RV park, inspected the damage, took measurements of the roof, and I gave him the $3,000 written estimate. A week later I received a check in the amount of the written estimate, minus my deductible. Amica pays the policy holder, not the repair shop.

Amica was great to work with. My policy renewed a month later in August 2012 and I did not receive a rate increase. Last month the policy renewed at the same 2012 rate of $630.

On the other hand, my 2009 smart car has had rate decreases:
August 2011 it was $812/year.
August 2012 it was $804/year.
August 2013 it was $777/year.

We got a quote from GS/CW Insurance for Allied (Nationwide) for half the price as GMAC (which they quoted us first). ASk them to quote you through Allied.

We have Foremost Insurance for full timers on our mh. We have never had a problem with them and the rates have stayed consistent even with our claims. They are associated with Farmers.

Well, just got off the phone with GMAC/national and the trade in of our 2012 $60k rv to our 2014 $80k rv just doubled our rate with them...

so keep the suggestions coming - I need to find a new rv insurance carrier...
