GS Park Updates

Marcus,
I'm curious, how often does GS update their GS RV Park listing? We checked in to Harbortown RV Resort in Monroe Michigan. I picked it because it was a Good Sam Park as indicated on the GS "Find a Campground" search feature. Upon check-in I was informed they are NOT a Good Sam member and there is no GS member discount! I just checked again and they are still listed as a Good Sam park... Talk about bait and switch... Oh, and by the way, any BIG RIGS planning on staying here, walk the site they assign you! They appear to have no knowledge of what a 45 foot rig turning radius is and will assign you a site that is decorated with large bonnet trees that a big rig cannot clear!!
  • The last two posters do show some concern and would love to hear from GS if there is a procedure in place to avoid such things. TinyoneRV really suggests a situation that I could see happening. Te only thing, is that if they got complaints through GS about it, that they might not be able to advertise in the future.
  • I had a similar experience; Good Sam park listed in the directory, the campground had it listed on their website and even had a large ad in the TL directory with the big red circle and all, even got the discount...but when I went to claim my free night of camping coupon, Good Sam sent it back saying the campground is not a Good Sam park and refused to honor it.
  • Could it be that campgrounds wait for the directory to publish and then resign their membership? That way, they would be listed as a GS park, attract those of us looking for the GS membership, and not honor the discount.

I talked with two park owners on our recent six week trip. Each said their GS membership and Trailer Life listing was worth the cost. Interestingly, one had GS inspectors on site at the time and the other had been visited the day before.

    Hello Stealth1,

Thank you for posting. I will send this directly to park services to look into as everything points to them still being a Good Sam Park. As soon as I find out from them I will let you know.
