I have been a member of AAA Roadside Assistance for 40 years. I just bought my RT 170 a year ago. In comparing plans, I felt that Good Sam looked best. AAA regarding RV..."Limited basis as long as the contact station that is dispatched to service has the equipment available". Sorry, but that's not what I want to hear when I am in trouble!! Yesterday I switched over to GS and not waiting till my AAA expires in November!!

Yeah, I did some poking around last night and I would agree that GS does a better job at catering to the RVer. Plus, they cover my spouse at no additional charge, offer unlimited towing, etc. I'm going to switch over. I just need to let my AAA expire first. If AAA would refund part of my membership, then I would probably switch over asap.

Last year coming home from Reno on I80 pulling a small utility trailer we had a blow out on the trailer. My Fiance has AAA ,so she called them and gave them all the info , location etc then when she said the blow out was on the trailer they said they don't do that ? WTF is road side assistance for if they don't change a flat tire.
What difference does it make if it were on the truck or the trailer hooked up to the truck.
I was just 6 months healing from major back surgery , my Fiance she was a trooper scared ****less but helped me do everything changing the tire.
Not only am I bashing AAA . Three LEO's drove by two CHP's and one local Sheriff not a one stopped, just drove right on by. Had the hood up, flashers on.

Hello All,
We have had Good Sam Road Service Platmum since 2007 and we are very pleased with the service. We have had to use the service 4 times and each time we have got Good Sam service techs that knew what they were talking about. Infact I was turned over to a Good Sam tech that knew the Exact details of our 40 ft Newmar Class A motor home. The service person showed up on time and each time (in different states) the person had the correct tools and good experience to get us going in a short period of time.
We feel when we are traveling and we need mech / electrical help, we want a road service program that will direct us to the best service THAT KNOWS MOTOR HOMES, BIG TRUCK CHASSIS and Cummins diesels. And this is what we have found with the Good Sam Road Program. Each service call has been a "10" plus. Which gives us good confidence to continue to travel with the Good Sam Road Service Platinum Plan.
What is the take away: Peace of mind!

Thank you for your question. Yes there are some big differences in the coverages. I will outline some general differences for you but what I recommend is to get a quote from your local AAA and compare it to our benefits of our plans. Detailed benefits brochures can be found at http://www.goodsamroadside.com/mbbs/ make sure you look at the plans on the left as they are the RV plans. One of the biggest differences is that AAA does limit the amount of miles and tows that you can use in a year, our plans do not limit you in this way. We also have the same coverage all accross North America whereas AAA is a regional coverage so the coverage you get is dependant on where you live or where you are travelling. We had AAA for years and dropped them for Good Sam over 10 years ago since they have no mileage limit. We have also up graded to the GS Platinum service since it covers any vehicle I drive and Tech service. In the last 10 years we've used the service for 3 tires and two tows all were very good response.

Had to call Good Sam yesterday due to my sliding down into the ditch behind out mailbox. Was told it would be a long wait due to the wrecker calls because of the ice storm. I asked if I could call a local service and get re-embursed and was told yes just submit the paid receipt. I called and he came within the hour (I live in the woods). Only thing hurt were my feelings. My driveway was a little low on the outside and I managed to drive over there due to lack of adequate visibility out the windshield. Lesson learned. First time in 15 years of living here. Last time I used them was 2006 and it was $45.00 This time.....$50.00. Good deal!!
