GS Travel Assist Scam Email

I recently received two emails, allegedly from Good Sam, subject Important Reminder About Your Membership. Here's the text:

To better serve you, please call us at 888-496-8762 to ensure your account is up-to-date and we have your current email address and mailing address on file.

No matter where you go or how you choose to travel- we’ve got you covered 24/7! We are here to help in case of a medical emergency when you travel - with transportation home after hospitalization and RV/vehicle return service.
Update your information today by calling our member services team at 888-496-8762.

I called that number, mostly because I was curious, since I knew very well that my account was up-to-date. What I got was a load of telemarketing junk. I have no doubt at all that it's a scam.

Called Good Sam and told them their email has been hacked. Their IT folks are looking into it.

Meanwhile, if you get a similar email, and it has any number except 888-853-7333 on it, do not call. Instead, call GS at the correct number (888-853-7333) to doublecheck your accounts, and tell them about the fake emails.

  • I have been getting the emails also, I replied I was current for a couple years . I got a reply saying sorry for the email. I think they like to get people to extend before expiration
  • Looks to me like the usual bait to get you to call so they can try and sell you their medical emergency service. Typical of many companies.
  • The Mods can move this if they choose.

Oh....I've been a GS member for years and did not receive this email.

Well if they have the Email list of GSE members then more than their email has been hacked and they had better own up to it and let us all know that there has been a security breach.

The OP should repost his topic into the good sam club forum under Ask Marcus.

There is not a Travel Assist forum under Ask Marcus.
  • It's more likely to be just a mass mailing, and not anything to do with Good Sam. I get some spam from places that I do no business with at all. They just figure they're going to hit someone that will call the number or click on the link.

  • Unlikely that their email was hacked, just spoofed. You can check to see what the actual email address is. I get lots of email that looks legit, but it is actually from something other than what looks like the address.
