GSC and GSE Fair Praise - Fair Criticism
GSE, CW and GSC and all the other parts of the conglomerate are without a doubt a very successful and profitable entrprise.
In a recent posting on the GSC Facebook page there was featured a photo and big quote from Mr. Lemonis about "Owning ones mistakes" and how real leaders do this.
(I urge you to go there and read it if you havn't)
This is encouraging to hear, and it is very true. And despite my occasional criticism of some aspects of the GSE stable of companies and how some things are handled, by and large it is a well run company that is good at responding to their customers complaints and wishes.
There are always areas that can be improved and GSE has it's share of those. One of the big ones in my view is the quality of some of the products they carry in Camping World...Cheap products that are priced at full retail and fail time and again and must be returned to the store. I am leery of buying anything but a well known brand at CW anymore and usually look elsewhere for many things.
Some other things that need improvement are the Big Red Book..There is just too much wrong to go into on this subject.
But overall GoodSam (ditch the logo of the smiling fool by the way and update the entire look of the place) is a good company that provides RV'ers and campers with a much needed nationwide outlet for those products and services we so often need (or want).
Most customer service interactions I have had with GS,CW et al have been positive a few have been a disaster CS wise. The majority of the products I have purchased have proven to be serviceable and do what they are intended to do. Again a few have been a real disaster.
Thankfully I havnt had the chance to put my road service membership to the test yet. (and Hope I never do)
And while I believe that most of the users of this forum and customers of GSE appreciate the company and the good parts of it, it's important not to let the unfortunate customer service interaction, the shoddy product, the service failures go unmentioned and fair and reasonable criticism leveled where appropriate.
But too often I read cynical rants that lack foundation or logic or reason. I hope those will diminish but am not holding my breath.
And I would make just one other point. Mr. Lemonis in his statement about owning ones mistakes is by inference also acknowledging that he is fair game for criticism. In fact he has stated on this site more than once that virtually all parts of the GSE enterprise can be criticized, reviewed, praised or commented on without fear of reprisal by the moderators. I think the moderators of this site should join with Mr. Lemonis and apply that philosophy to their own actions herein.
Overall I enjoy my trips to CW, here on the forum, my dealing with the insurance folks and the membership office. I am still hoping never to have the same pleasure with Road Service.
