He has a legitimate complaint that deserves an answer.
I am actually amazed that they didn't just blow him (us) off.
I don't speak for 'darsben' but the thought did cross my mind that what he's asking for affects 0.00000001% of their mailings. My response, unposted, would have been similar.
I'd have recognized this, that my needs are in the minority, and asked if they had a way of supporting my request to not get thick mailings.
"Complaining bitterly" doesn't seem like the best way out of this, to me. YMMV
