All I see are issues with GS and their merchandise certificates and ordering things and threads closed due to inactivityBeen to a couple campgrounds where they ask if we're members for a discount and even ordering things at Overtons for a discount$29 doesn't seem like a big deal for what they offer Anyone have something Good to say? :)

Some campgrounds will give a 10% discount (on the daily rate) for Good Sam Members. Most of these same campgrounds also offer the same 10% discount for FMCA, AARP, Military, etc., some even for a library card! But some do not so it's up to you whether it is worth it.

We don't use campgrounds very much but Gander outdoors and Overtons honors their membership for additional discountsPlus the gas discountsI just see a lot of issues with their road side assistance

I get the membership fee back in discounts. Gravy after that.

If campground discounts are more important to you, then Passports and Escapees could make more sense.

We are members of and former officers of a local Good Sam chapter. We've made many friends by participating in state Good Sam rallies and local chapter campouts.I may or may not have joined for the discounts. I have used the RV park discount on a few occasions but I don't normally shop at Camping World.

I called them one time years ago and told them to take mo off their mailing lists. The haven't stopped completely but what they send is few and far between these days. Not a problem to deal with ever since I made that call.

We went with lifetime membership. We now have a Gander not far away and I got some good discounts. Also 10% discount at most campgrounds.

Good if you like good sam parks which are plentiful, just can't stand the mountains of garbage mail they send, dropped them because of that and it went on for years before it stopped

Hi JusBud,

Many times the roadside on the insurance policy only covers the disabled vehicle. If your truck breaks down what happens to the trailer you are pulling? Does that sit on the side of the road?

Like any other advocacy group, check it out to see if it offers what you want. IMO, it don't matter what others think.

I have it with my insurance company and it worked great when my truck broke down and didn't cost me a dime

We are lifetime members. We use the benefits when we can (fuel, Camping World, etc.). We have saved more than the membership cost on campground discounts. I need to renew my roadside assistance but the couple of times I used it there were not any problems.

Fuel discount at Flying J. Yes, I know there are other places to fuel up that are cheaper, but I am looking for ease of in and out and having RV islands is a plus for us. We might use the park discount once or twice a year - same with stopping at Camping World. Nice to have and each one independently wouldn't be my deciding factor but taken together, it is about a break even for us, so why not.
