I remember back in the day.. Which is about 10 or so years ago, you could call 1-800-555-1212 and get a free directory assistance operator and have them search for a phone number for you..
No idea if this still exists.. As even my 75 year old parents have a smart phone now and Mom is way too active on FB with it! :)
It seems to me that all these road service companies do is 'contract' with local repair/towing services all over the country and all they do is call them up, the same way you could just call them up... Right?
There might be some discount benefit if they actually are able to contact someone and dispatch them to you, but in the end, it seems you pay this monthly premium to your road service provider and you still have to wait hours and pay out of pocket for most of the provided service...
I'd do AAA before any of the other ones, but I still do a lot of my own maintenance on my rigs and can do some basic roadside repairs myself, but as I am getting older... I think I can find my own local service and will just eat whatever cost it is to deal with it instead of having to rely on someone else to do the same thing and I still have to pay for it all...
