I might be more inclined to believe the OP IF:
He didn't make it out that traveling to Chicago was such a "big trip", yet he identifies his location as "near Chicago";
He posted the benefits of the plan rather than providing the "text to" information;
He didn't sound like a complete idiot - signing up for an unknown plan in a parking lot via a flyer being stuck on car windows.
