Maybe it's like my health insurance???? If I call 9-1-1 for an ambulance, the ambulance is going to take me to the nearest hospital. My insurance will pay (provided I really had a problem).
BUT! if I tell the ambulance driver I do not want to go to "that" hospital, instead, take me to a different one... AND especially ... if the distance is farther ... the insurance won't cover the cost of the "ride" because I turned down "customary care". I can expect to foot the entire bill for the ride.
Somewhere, it's all in the fine print of your contract... somewhere???
