Need GS ESP to answer question please

My camper is currently under repairs at CW of Biloxi, MS.

The 12V wiring burned up. The CW technician found the problem. The 12 positive feed wire was pinched between the camper frame and the floor. Over time the wire shorted to the frame. This burned up all of the 12V supply lines, and a lot of the 12V distribution lines (lights, brakes etc.) and it caused the battery to explode and catch fire.

ESP authorized replacing the wiring only. They are refusing to replace the battery. I understand there is a clause excluding batteries from the warranty. That is to keep ESP from replacing dead batteries every 5 years, which are a "consumable item" and understandable.
Not to exclude the battery because of a manufacturer's wiring issue that caused a fire and the battery to explode.

I would like to speak to someone from GS ESP about this please.
Thank you
  • I sure would question this too as the battery caught fire because of the wiring being wrong in the first place.
  • Read your contract! I bet it says, "If a covered part fails and causes an uncovered part to fail, then the uncovered part is not covered."

And THAT is the problem... :)

Somewhat like saying if a part is not required to repair an air conditioner, the failure of the air conditioner is not covered !
  • So after talking with an agent. Here is what they are claiming.

"You have to have purchased the additional coverage, to cover a non-covered item". So in this case, had I purchased an additional coverage, that I knew nothing about, then they would cover the battery because it was destroyed by the wiring that they said "you claim was run incorrectly", I explained that I didn't claim it, CW does... Its a crappy way to do business in my opinion.

I'm still waiting to see if they are going to cover the burned up underbelly and repair the fire damage to the battery compartment!
