It IS a "customer service issue". Sure, not a big one, but one that should be reviewed by GS to make things go smoother in the future.
Sounds to me like they tried without success for a weekend. Each time they were unsuccessful, they called and told him. Why could he not try to locate someone on his own? Sometimes you have to take things in your own hands.
