Out of state storage cover not possible

Previously when traveling with my FL tags on full time cover i have put my RV in storage in Las Vegas no problem (one of the reasons over a year ago i took out Nat General via Goodsam. (Previously i had been with another insurer who change their mind about where i might want to store!) Now i am told this is not possible and i have to return to Florida to store if i want to.

Now the whole point of being full time in an RV is that at times people will need to put their RV in storage to go somewhere. (long distances are very expensive in an RV and better travelled by planes!)

  • I don't understand how this became a problem.

Why would your insurance company know ANYTHING about where your RV is on any given day ??

And why would the State where it is registered make any difference for anything ??
  • Hello cencerrita,

  • I can somewhat understand their position. The rates for the policy were determined on a Florida-based RV, not one stored for any length of time in Nevada. National General asked where I stored my TT when I got the policy. Further, some insurance companies are not licensed in every state and insuring one stored in a state where they are not licensed may violate a Nevada statue or regulation.
