roadside assistance coverage on a trailer

I was told when I joined the roadside assistance program (platinum)that my trailer was covered. I drive a motorhome and many times I pull a 6 x 10 enclosed trailer used to haul my motorcycle trike. I have received a brochure that explains member benefits, which is confusing. On the front side of this brochure it states non-recreational vehicles are covered under this plan, including utility trailers and sport trailers, including boat trailers, all-terrain vehicle trailers, motorcycle trailers etc while transporting sport vehicles (boats, atv's, motorcycles, pwc, snowmobiles) only. The last page states utility trailers of any type being used for non-recreational purposes, animal trailers and vehicles used to transport show animals are not covered by this plan. I have contacted customer service to verify this information and told my trailer is not covered under this plan, which does not make sense to me. The form I'm quoting from is 6B-2014/ gra53094B-0617
  • I do not understand why my trailer is not covered since it is used to transport a motorcycle trike, coverage states a utility and sport trailer used to transport a motorcycle are covered, what is the reason that mine is not covered?
  • Hello EASY.RIDER,

Thank you for your time and post. That plan does cover 'utility trailers' and are considered 'open trailers', but since you are referring to an 'enclosed trailer', that qualifies as a 'cargo trailer' which is not covered due under the Platinum plan due to liability reasons. Please send a PM if you would like to discuss further.

    Thanks,

    David
    Good Sam
