Damage to your car is covered by your car insurance. If you get a cracked windshield from a stone you cannot collect from the driver of the car that kicked up the stone, be it your tow vehicle or other vehicle.

well Judge Judy agrees with you but she was wrong in that one case. a fella was following a dump truck that had gravel stuck when the rear gate lowered and pinned some stones on the ledge. he had photos of the ledge showing some rocks still on there. dumb old Judy evidently had never seen or heard of this happening so ruled in favor of the truck driver. haven't watched here since then.
