I'm sorry that you are so confused about Good Sam ESP, Insurance and Extended Warranties in general.
Good Sam does reimburse you up to $160 per day for up to five days for lodging, food and rental car expenses when you are unable to use your RV because of a covered repair. There is no five day limit on the cost of the repairs. Many repairs take weeks. ESP will pay up to the NADA value of the vehicle for covered repairs, and we pay claims day after day. While there are many unethical extended warranty companies out there, Good Sam has been paying claims for 20 years. We routinely pay $8,000 to $15,000 for a blown gas engine, and once in a while we pay out $30,000 or more for a blown diesel pusher. Even a simple refrigerator replacement or repair can take more than five days and we routinely pay for these and many other failures every day. That's why we have more than 175,000 RVers covered by Good Sam ESP- because we do pay claims.
Your homeowners insurance will never pay for mechanical failures. That's not what homeowners insurance is for. Good Sam ESP will not pay for floods, fires, collision or theft. That's what your RV Property and Casualty and your Homeowner's insurance is for.
It's not a question of one being better than the other, they simply cover different kinds of risks.
