RV TRAVEL &SAVINGS GUIDE

I bought the new guide, what a disappointment. There is no tab page as there always has been. I shopped all over town and couldn't find anything that came close to the tabs that used to come with the guide. I think they could have sold just one more ad, it wouldn't be noticed in the book full of ads, to pay for an index tab page. Oh well, maybe in their 100 anniversary addition.

  • Always enjoyed the GS RV guide. Got me a 2016 edition on the way. Thanks GS.
  • The Big Red Book. It's hard to read, too big, typefaces and fonts are not distinctive enough between headings and other text, way too much advertising, way too much "chamber of Commerce" cheerleading for destinations disguised as Travel Advice, editing is poor if non existant.

The Mexico section is a joke as are some others.

The overall rating system is biased so heavily toward one type of RV park (The huge so called "RESORTS")that getting meaningful information is problematic at best.

This book needs a complete overhaul and re-design to make it more accessible, readable, easier to handle and more meaningful in it's information.

But don't expect any dramatic changes out of GSE on this front. They are a company that does things incrementally in my view.
  • Woodalls used to have a DVD of the listings included too so you can search easier but GS doesn't. Kind of silly since GS bought Woodalls.
  • We have AAA also, well anyway went into there office the other day and low and behold... they have the Woodalls directorys. They are sectioned off into parts of the country. The best part they were FREE as being a AAA member.
  • The tabs make things a bit easier to find for sure. I actually got some at Walmart and stuck them on the pages.
  • Good Sam was asked many times last year on this forums to do something about the massiveness of the book - 2,000 pages to juggle!! They should have made in in two books - one for east of the Mississippi and one for west - like Woodalls used to be. I will never buy that humongous book again.
