Salvage Title

Hi, I bought a camper that has a salvage title. It was a theft recovery with no damage at all. My insurance agent said they dont insure salvage title cars/rv etc...except liability they do of course. Would Good Sam insure it? Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks
  • I think you would have a hard time getting comprehensive and collision insurance on an 8 year old trailer in the base case. If you did, it would probably not be worth the price. Not sure about all states, but in NJ liability insurance is not required on a trailer, it goes to the tow vehicle.

Even with no damage it has to be salvage title by law. Lool up rules fot Colorado.

I did, the quote I posted is from the COLORADO DMV WEB PAGE
  • Perhaps I'm not understanding your need for comprehensive insurance for a relatively inexpensive popup that I suspect you got for a great price since it has a salvage title. If it were me, I'd get liability insurance and go camping.
  • I got it for 8k so no steal. Thats what there going for. Im just curious and wonder if companies insure them. Once I have all the info. then can decide if its worth it. I do agree that its probably not worth insuring. This is a forum so thought it would be nice if anyone has been through it before. I hope this explains so you will understand. We are going camping/elk hunting and not worrying about it. Its a pop up but when you walk out the door there is a 12 by 8'3 wide deck for 3 full size atvs and the deck is in the back so tongue weight not issue. Going to customize and put in the "add a room" to increase size. Very rare camper wiyh massive clearance.
  • I was watching that one. He wouldn't answer any questions about it. This is the first time I have ever seen it this low. It actually sold on ebay for $4201. I was going to have it shipped from Florida to Colorado for $1500. Hes third owner and has never pulled the bearings. This was a steal if it all works. im familiar with most Scorpions for sale. Check out craiglist ripon Ca. Many go for 9-10k all the time. Again this was a first at this price. To good to be true. Oregon cos bay has one over 12k. Bet ya $1000 you cant find one at that price that is currently for sale.
  • $12,997 coos bay Oregon. These are prices for scorpion S1. The S2 and S3 much cheaper.
  • WOW this is my first time seeing one of these dudes..

to me it looks like someone put a coleman popup camper sideways on a landscape trailer, hooked a large tent on it and allowed space for a porch. interesting design for sure.

ANY good redneck could make that happen for about 5K so the price is about right. not sure how they are 10K not salvage title but what do I know :)
