Same old $@;/

Shopped at Camping World in Summerville, FL last July. Check out lady convinced my wife it was time to renew membership. I didn't have my card with me so i said ok.
She also said we would get four issues of either magazine for renewing in the store.
Got home, checked card, as thought, expires in April 2015. Oh well no big, checked online a few days later and confirmed membership extended to April 2016.

Today received a letter from Marcus (yeah, right), stating time to renew, membership expires April 2015. Worse than the magazine sellers, lie about the expiration date, figuring no one checks and the money just keeps flowing in.

BTW - still have yet to receive the first "free" magazine.

  • Surprisingly, I haven't been inundated with offers since I let my Trailerlife subscription lapse. I got the magazine for probably about 8 years but am cutting back on expenses and paper in my mailbox. I figured they'd be pestering the heck out of me to re-up, but I got a few notices that subscription was expiring and that's it. Since it expired 2 months ago, I've received no notices or offers at all. :)

I've got to give them accolades for not sending me letters every two days.

Just got a letter stating it was time to RENEW my GS roadside service with an option to upgrade to platinum. The letter included new embossed membership cards.

Problem is is I don't have GS roadside service so there is nothing to renew.

I love ya guy! Same thing happened to me, but I was reluctant to post about it. I've never had Good Sam roadside assistance, but have been a Good Sam member in the past. I got my kicks out of the "Renewal" part when I was never enrolled to begin with. I know, it's a marketing tactic. Still, I thought it was funny. And yes, I had the same membership cards, one for me and one for my wife. I do give them credit for some intuitive marketing techniques though! It really did make me stop and ask ... Do I have Road Side Assistance with them? Well, my answer is "no", but it did make me stop and think for a little bit.

  • Given up on GS/CW. Don't go to CW for anything except emergency supplies or part. The GS insurance et al I stay away from. Go to the rallies for a socially good time and check out vendors. Have tried several times to jump on the bandwagon but it was so out of tune I jumped right off. I enjoy the forum and I am hopeful and waiting for the talked about revelation to come.
