This practice is used in many types of businesses. They get you in, the introductory rate expires, and you get charged about double. Many want your credit card number before they will give you the intro rate, and that's so they can automatically charge the big rate to your card when it comes to re-up time. It's becoming the standard, and it is offensive to loyal customers. But, most will re-up at the bigger price rather than quit and go with somebody else. Not me, I'm gone. Did it with insurance, DirecTV, satellite radio, etc, and will be doing it with ancestry dot com in April. There are almost always alternatives.
