There really is a way to get off mailing lists - and it works.
Direct Mail Removal
We signed up 17 years ago went we started full-timing because we have a mail forwarding service and 'pay' to have our mail forwarded so we didn't want any 'extras'.
Along with doing the above, every time we subscribed to a magazine or ordered anything online or over the phone, we always ask that we not be put on any kind of mailing list. We don't want catalogs.
It took about a year of keeping on top of everything but for the past 16 years, we haven't received any kind of junk mail - not even those pesky credit card offers.
So it can be done!
Why should you have to pay a fee to stop what is junk ,wrong, and not asked for?
We're full-timers - without a sticks home so we use a mail forwarding service and the mail forwarding company is our address - everything goes there. When we want our mail we email them and they ship it out to us - everything, including junk mail and catalogs. We pay for the shipping. We could have them sort through it and discard the unwanted stuff but as I stated, we rarely receive any junk mail anymore by signing up on the above website. Also, selectively sorting through it would be an additional charge. Actually, we don't receive much of any mail anymore because bills can now be done via AutoPay. This is how it's done when full-timing. :)
