time to renew

I was previously with Good Sam Insurance for my fifth wheel trailer. After moving to Florida and living in our trailer for seven months while our house was built. As I remember, I was told National General does not write camper insurance in Florida, or maybe it was for people living full time in their trailers. Anyway, I was switched to Progressive. Now it is time to renew and it appears the premium has gone up considerably from what we paid last year. We are no longer living in the trailer and it sits most of the time in a storage facility. Is there another Good Sam Insurance company with lower rates?

  • I don't know about Good Sam Insurance, but try Allstate. They cover our FW both at home when not traveling and on the road.

Florida. I can see why the insurance is much more.

  • All I can say is my experiance.

3 years ago we had a neighbors tree fall and total our 4 year old Redwood Fifth wheel. We had Progressive and boy were they awesome to deal with.... Within 3 weeks, we had a check in hand with ZERO arguments... Well worth it.

Considering how clear the damage, and fault, was, it was a slam-dunk claim. Paying quickly was in their best interests... It was a legitimate claim

    Not 100% true..

The adjuster at one point told me he was having issues getting it to the totaled point.... They have to get a number of what it would cost to replace it, get a buyer for it, and add the repair costs... the repair cost has to get to a certain percentage in order for it to be totaled.

With a higher cost RV, getting to that percentage was not easy, but his take was that he could not inspect the frame due to the condition, but "ASSUMED" it was bent.. that put our numbers over the top.
