Old-Bisquit, I completely agree, I should have had a spare, that was my own lapse. The tires were less than three years old, and properly inflated. While inflating them that morning, I did not notice any cracks or bulges anywhere, though I am far from an expert in such things.
However, the part about being prepared... that's why I bought the Roadside Assistance plan, for things that I wasn't prepared for. It's a big difference going from using AAA or my other auto roadside assistance plan, where they actually DO find you someone quick every time I've had to use them. I was NOT prepared for a 2-3 hour wait when we were less than 10 miles from Manchester, NH, which is a relatively good sized town. A 2-3 hour wait on a busy highway with virtually no shoulder. A problem that I related to the representative. We were fortunate to have a truck stop and kind of be a warning to other motorists for us, keeping us safe.
I have not requested a refund or cancellation, though I will not renew. I consider it a lesson learned, BUT I also consider it my responsibility to let me experience be known so that someone else might save themselves some time, money, and frustration in the future.
